A meeting was had, I suspect the first of many, we were brainstorming ideas and getting some guidance on what these individuals felt were important themes and messages for this creative project to explore and promote.
This is just the start...we are setting up interviews with members of the community and consumers of mental health services in the Lithgow area, to find out what is important for them.
Some of the ideas/themes that this group of people came up with were 'Reduce stigma around mental Health, Importance of creating 'safe spaces' or a 'sanctuary' in our community, and educating the community about how the different services in Lithgow support people at different levels of mental distress.
Their were many ideas raised at this meeting, it will be interesting to see what common themes emerge as we meet with diverse groups and individuals around the area.
